The Ware County Gators defeated the Coffee Lady Trojans 4-2 Wednesday afternoon in Waycross. Karlee Thomas hit a solo home run in the sixth and Kanlee Douglas struck out eight in the loss.
Ware County got on the board first, scoring one in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth. Coffee didn’t score until Thomas hit her home run in the sixth. She sent an 0-1 pitch over the centerfield fence for the Lady Trojans’ first run of the game. In the seventh, Ella Edge led off with a single then stole second. RiRi Paulk flew out to center, scoring Edge, who tagged, from second.
The Lady Trojans managed just three hits – two by Thomas and one by Edge.
Coffee closes out the regular season today in Tift County at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Trojans are 20-7 on the season.
