A Coffee County teen who was out of jail on bond in connection with a January drive-by shooting is back behind bars after his bond was revoked following a drug-related arrest in Telfair County.
According to authorities in Telfair County, Cupris Morgan, 18, of Douglas, was arrested on September 16, 2025, in McRae for allegedly selling drugs in a public housing complex. Morgan was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a housing project, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a drug-related object, and driving on the wrong side of the road. An AR-style rifle was recovered during the investigation, authorities stated.
Morgan posted bond and was released from the Telfair County Jail on September 18. However, the arrest in McRae was a violation of the terms of his bond in Coffee County. As a result, his bond was revoked and he was booked into the Coffee County Jail on October 9, 2025.
This is the third time in the last 12 months that Morgan has been arrested on drug and/or gun-related charges. Most recently, Morgan, along with Larry Daniel, was arrested in January after they allegedly shot a car and a home in Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park. There were four people in the car, including two pre-schoolers, but no one was injured in the incident. They were charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Coffee County Jail.
Morgan was released on bond a couple of months later. Daniel remains in the Coffee County Jail. Morgan is also being held without bond.
Morgan was also arrested Tuesday, October 15, 2024, while in a vehicle with two other subjects. Morgan was allegedly in possession of a felony amount of marijuana, $271 in small bills, and a handgun. He was 17 at the time and faced charges related to felony drug possession and underage handgun possession. The charges were eventually – and quickly — dropped. Morgan was a senior at Coffee High School at the time of the October arrest.
