A 31-year-old Douglas man remains in jail on several charges after he was arrested when officers responded to a disorderly person call on South Manilla Avenue.
According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, on March 16, 2026, at 9 p.m., a police officer responded to the call. The complainant said that Darius Qua-Shon Ellerton, 31, who was a relative, had stayed the night at the home due to potential bad weather. The report says that the complainant believed that Ellerton had taken some kind of drug because he was “hallucinating, yelling, and having outbursts.” The complainant had asked Ellerton to leave but he would not.
When the officer spoke to Ellerton, he said that Ellerton “appeared confused and stated that someone was going to kill him.” The report says that Ellerton also stated, “Look at all these people.” No one else was present, the report states.
The officer checked Ellerton through GCIC and found that he had two active warrants. He was arrested on the warrants, one for criminal attempt to commit a felony and the other for criminal damage to property. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and given $5,500 bonds for each charge. However, he remains incarcerated.
