Christmas didn’t get off to a very good start for a 49-year-old Douglas man. Jason Corey Spivey was arrested shortly after midnight on December 25, 2025, and jailed after he allegedly stole items from an individual with whom he was staying and sold them to someone else.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, at 12:46 a.m. on December 25, a deputy responded to a disorderly person call. The complainant stated that Spivey was at his home acting irate and refusing to leave. The officer learned that the complainant had allowed Spivey to stay at his home for a few days. During that time, Spivey allegedly stole a die set, a drone, and a Henry .22 rifle from the complainant and sold them to someone else for $80. Once the purchaser found out that the items belong to the complainant, he returned them. Spivey also returned the purchaser’s $80, the report says.
However, Spivey denied selling any items that belonged to the complainant, according to the report. He said he sold some knick-knacks and didn’t take anything from the complainant. The report states that text messages between Spivey and the complainant confirm that Spivey did sell the items in question, all of which belonged to the complainant. The drone and die set were returned while the rifle was taken into evidence.
Spivey was arrested and charged with theft by deception, theft by taking, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail where he remains.
