Douglas Mayor James Dennis thanked Debbie Fussell, owner of Blue Door Décor, for being part of the “economic engine here in Douglas” at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the business Tuesday morning. Coffee County Chamber of Commerce members Sherry Davis, Stanley Lott, and Donny Bradshaw spoke at the ceremony, all praising the success the store has seen and the hard effort of Fussell and her fellow employees and partners.

Blue Door Decor is located at 312 North Madison Avenue directly across the street from the First United Methodist Church and has been open for nine months. In that time, the store has seen great success and customers have spoken highly of their experience. Fussell works full time in Waycross while also managing and helping to run the store with partner and daughter-in-law Angela Fussell, who is also a teacher. Debbie Fussell thanked those who arrived for the ribbon cutting, as well as the Chamber of Commerce who worked with her to get a location close to the Main Street district of downtown Douglas. Though the building, which was formerly the location for Rollins Realty, is not technically in the Main Street district, Sherry Davis stated that Blue Door Décor would be included in Main Street events and kept up to date. Davis also remarked that it is a possibility to move the business into the Main Street district as soon as a location becomes available.
