Satilla Regional Library System had Mr. Ron Collins perform his Tampa Taiko Drumming show for its final Summer Reading Program performance of 2015 on Wednesday, July 22. There was an ice cream party immediately following both performances.

Mr. Collins talked about how his drums were made, the history of different Japanese instruments including the Shakuhachi, a Japanese bamboo flute, and the history of Taiko drumming.

He brought his Shakuhachi and demonstrated tunes to the audience and introduced new Japanese words, while tying them in with existing words that are commonly used that are of Japanese origin.

This was a fun and interactive performance that children, teens, and adults were able to participate in and enjoy. Everyone had a great time!

For more information on upcoming youth programs at the Satilla Regional Library System, please call Julie Macomber, Children’s and Young Adult Librarian, at (912) 384-4667 ext. 222.
