When she had her daughter over two years ago, Jennifer Waldron began to make handmade bows and headbands for her baby in her spare time. As time went on, friends and family would ask her to make them for their own children and, of course, she obliged. She then created a Facebook page, selling her headbands, bows and handmade tutus.
It was from these humble beginnings that Jennifer grew what is now her own business, Divine, in downtown Douglas.
It isn’t just bows and headbands anymore, though. While plenty of beautiful handmade bows and headbands are stocked on her shelves, her store is full to the brim with gorgeous handmade items and outfits for girls and boys. Sizes range from newborn to 8, and she has everything from dresses to hand-knitted, locally-made prop outfits for photos, Afghans, as well as baby-shower-appropriate gifts.
Handmade jewelry, bowties and ties for boys, birthday outfits, tutus, clips—she has it all. She strives to sell only locally made or American made merchandise. Her store is child-friendly and has a play area located in the back so that mom may shop worry-free.
“I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to meet new friends,” Jennifer says.
Because, a lot of times, items purchased in her store are intended for events or portraits, Jennifer feels like she becomes a part of those special moments and memories.
“I love meeting all new customers and meeting their babies and kids,” Jenniger says. “They feel like family.”
The store is located at 248 South Peterson and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store has been open since September 1, and Jennifer is hosting a grand opening for the business October 1 – 3.
