Evelyn Pearl Pharis Benton, age 88, of Lake Park, GA passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Berrien Nursing Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Benton was born on December 5, 1926, in Douglas, GA to the late James Benjamin Pharis and Matilda Purvis Pharis.
Survivors include: her daughter, Gloria (Wesley) Luke of Lake Park, GA; grandson, Jarrett Luke of Nashville, GA; granddaughter, Julie Wiley of Nashville, GA; two great grandchildren, Karla Wiley and Kayla Wiley; special friend, Debbie Pike; two-step grandchildren, Michelle Cook of Valdosta, GA and Joseph Mills of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Lisa Benton of Georgetown, GA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Benton, Jr; son, Terry Benton.
Family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Miller, Rev. Michael Bass and Rev. Mike Nelligean officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.
