The South Georgia State College Hawks grabbed a total of 41 rebounds and shot 80 percent from the free throw line Saturday afternoon to defeat the Central Georgia Tech Titans 66-48.

“That was the best defensive game we’ve had all year,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “When we can hold a team under 50 points for the game, that says a lot.”

Tyrone Sam was the leading scorer with 18 points and four rebounds. Karim Mawuenyega finished with 13 points, while Zaquavian Smith had 12 points in the win.

The Hawks’ (16-3, 3-2) rebounding performance was once again led by Andre Elam who finished with a total of 14 rebounds.

SGSC will finish its current homestand Monday night at 7 p.m. against Atlanta Metro in another conference game. General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
