Two people are behind bars and another is being sought following a brutal home invasion last week.
Officials with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a residence on Sugarsand Rd. last Tuesday in reference to a possible home invasion. They made contact with a Hispanic male victim at the residence, who was covered in blood.
The victim told deputies that, shortly after 3 a.m., he was awakened by someone knocking at his door. After answering the door, he allowed a female subject known to him as Stephanie Castillo to enter. He added that, once Castillo was inside, she asked if he was alone and, once he confirmed such, two unknown males entered the home brandishing handguns .
According to the victim, the assailants pointed the gun at him and demanded he give them his wallet. When he refused to do so, a struggle took place that resulted in the victim being hit in the head several times with the pistol .
The intruders were able to get the victim’s wallet before fleeing the home.
The investigation was turned over to Coffee County detectives and, as a result of the investigation, two individuals have been arrested and charged, and a third suspect is still being sought.
The following individuals are currently being held in the Coffee County Jail: Stephanie Ann Nicole Castillo (25) of Douglas and Angel Manuel Encarnation (21) of Douglas, each charged with one count of armed robbery.
Sheriff Doyle Wooten stated, “I would like to thank deputies and the detective division for their dedication and hard work to solve these cases and getting these offenders off the streets.”
