Two South Georgia State College baseball players have signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at the four-year level.

Jared Crews and Mikal Flores, both sophomores from Baker County, Fla., have committed to Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Ga., under the leadership of Coach Paul Knight.

Crews is an infielder and pitcher for the Hawks. So far this season, his batting average is .270 with three doubles, one triple, two homeruns and eight runs. While pitching, he has had one win and one save with a total of 3.2 innings pitched with three strikeouts. SGSC Coach Jeff Timothy says, “Jared has assumed the role of our closer this season and also has contributed as an infielder. He is a quiet leader and a fiery competitor. We wish him nothing but the best at Middle Georgia State.”

First baseman Flores has a .300 average with 11 doubles, one home run and 22 runs batted in. “Mikal is a two-year starter for us, and he shows exceptional leadership along with being named as team captain,” says Coach Timothy. “I wish him the best, and I know he will be successful at Middle Georgia State.”
