Medal of Honor recipient and author General James Livingston recently visited George Washington Carver Freshman Campus (GWC).
Army veteran and history teacher Chanc Logue taught a Medal of Honor advisement class where students explored the important concepts of courage, commitment, sacrifice, patriotism, integrity, and citizenship and how these values can be exemplified in daily life.The Medal of Honor advisement class incorporated video clips about personal accounts of living Medal of Honor recipients.
Through the program, Mr. Logue was able to secure General Livingston as a speaker at GWC. General Livingston spoke to the students who went through the Medal of Honor program and NJROTC students. General Livingston grew up in Telfair County on a farm and received his Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War.
In his message to the GWC students he stated, “It doesn’t matter where you were born, it matters what you want to be”.
General Livingston donated a signed copy of his book, Noble Warrior, to the GWC media center.
