Local authorities recently arrested one man after discovering a small pot growing operation near Broxton.

Acting on an anonymous tip, drug agents searched a wooded area off old Relee Rd. in Broxton for a potential marijuana grow operation.  The agents located six marijuana plants being grown in commercial potting soil, along with containers.

Subsequent to the discovery and following the investigation, 25-year-old Kaleb Owens of Broxton was arrested at his place of employment and charged with manufacturing marijuana.

In a separate incident on July 14, Douglas police officers investigated a suspicious vehicle located on Roper St. in the community park area around 11:30 p.m.  Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found what they believed to be residual marijuana flakes and prescription pills.

The Douglas – Coffee Drug Unit was called to investigate and positively identified the prescription pills as Tramadol, a Schedule VI controlled substance.

As a result of the investigation, 17-year-old Jatavius Bennet of Douglas was arrested and charged with the possession of 42 Tramadol tablets in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.
