Hurst and Hurst CPAs, LLC is proud to be a sponsor of REACH Georgia which recently awarded five Coffee Middle School eighth grade students with $10,000 scholarships for college.  This year’s recipients are Emily Grace Boykin, Mackenzie Danielle Conway, D’ojhene Monique Echols, Koco Amani Holland, and Aaliyah A’miracle Ringold.  These scholars are paired with a mentor and an academic coach through high school.  Upon graduation from high school, scholars are awarded up to a $10,000 scholarship to be used at a Georgia HOPE-eligible college.

The goal of REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) is to find academically promising students who quality for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program and strive to be the first in their family to attend college.  Our goal is to help make these dreams become reality.

Robb Hurst said, “I was excited for the opportunity to sponsor these scholarships because I think the opportunity for college can change the lives and outlook for these young students.  It is an investment in our future.  I can vividly remember my dad telling us that he could not have gone to college if his mentor had not taken an interest in him and helped him get scholarship money to attend the University of Georgia.  REACH is a great opportunity to pass it on and impact other young students’ lives.”

These young scholars are required to sign a contract vowing to maintain good behavior, keep a cumulative grade point average above 2.5, meet with their REACH mentor twice a month, and focus on achieving both a high school diploma and college degree.
