O’Showen Williams named GCAA player of the week

South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) O’Showen Williams has been named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I Player of the Week.

A 5’11” freshman from Macon, Ga., Williams averaged 24 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in conference games against Central Georgia Tech and Gordon State. For the season, Williams is averaging 15.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. He is third overall in assists (90) and fifth in free throw percentage (78.6).

Williams is the first SGSC freshman to receive the Player of the Week honor and the fourth Hawk to be selected this season. According to head coach Cory Baldwin, 17 of his players have received the honor since the program was established in 2009.

Williams is a graduate of Stratford Academy in Macon.
