Students in the South Georgia State College Bachelor of Biological Science program recently toured Sunbelt Greenhouses in Douglas. The group, led by Dr. Rosa Guedes, assistant professor of biology and ecology, was able to learn the process of growing and caring for plants as well as various careers in the industry and facts about the Douglas plant and its logistics operations.

SGSC is appreciative of its community partners such as Sunbelt Greenhouses and thanks general manager Mr. Kevin Koeppler for his support of our students.

SGSC’s Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (BSBS) offers students two options to engage in learning experiences that lead to rewarding careers.

Students in the Nature and Ecology track engage in study related to the unique ecological sites in the region and, upon completion, may seek advanced study or find employment in a variety of fields within governmental and private sectors. The Pre-Professional track is designed to meet prerequisite courses for entry into the professions of medicine, dentistry, pharmacology, and other health-related fields. Both tracks cultivate personal responsibility for the environment and foster the importance of stewardship.

More information about the degree program can be found at www.sgsc.edu or by contacting Dr. Kimberly Hunt, assistant professor of biology, at Kimberly.hunt @ sgsc.edu.
