Ms. Dorothy Caves Shrouder, age 82, of Denton, GA, passed away Wednesday evening, May 24, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Shrouder was born February 25, 1935 to the late Alfred T. Caves and the late Beatrice Stone Caves. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Edward “Ed” Shrouder; a son, Eddie Lamar Shrouder; a daughter, Ann Tradewell; a sister, Jeanette Horne; and a brother, J. T. Caves.
Mrs. Shrouder, a native of Jeff Davis County, was a homemaker. She also assisted her late husband in the operation of their farm. Mrs. Shrouder was a member of Stone’s Chapel Church.
Survivors include: Daughter Jessie “Snookie” Purvis of Eufaula, AL; grandchildren Shemane Shrouder of Denton, GA, and Blaze Wilson of Wray, GA; sisters Colleen Wood of Hazlehurst, GA, Bobby Jean McKinnon and Geneva Mims both of Denton, GA; three great-grandchildren ; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service was held Saturday morning, May 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Stone’s Chapel Church, with Rev. Tim Mock and Rev. Edison Taft officiating. The interment followed in Denton Cemetery in Jeff Davis County.
Active Pallbearers were: Roy Wood, Randy McKinnon, Steve McKinnon, Don Mims, Teddy Horne and Austin Jordan.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
