Joe T. Bell, age 84, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bell was born on November 1, 1932, in Arkansas to the late Doy Bell and Bernice Bowen Bell.

Survivors include: his wife, Doris C. Bell of Douglas, Ga.; daughter, Jolynne Bell of Dexter, Mo.; grandson whom he reared, Adam Bell of Douglas, Ga.; stepdaughter, Melanie McKinnon of Columbia, SC; brothers: Chester (Jeanette) Bell of Sikeston, Mo, Charlie (Carolyn) Bell of Dexter, Mo, and Kenneth (Debbie) Bell of Dexter, Mo.; sister, Dorothy Barnes of Kalamazoo, Mi.; grandchildren: Lacey J. (Randy) Nugent, John Jowers, Hannah Gibson, and Jasen (Frankie) Ao; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Bell; daughters: Ruth Ann Jowers and Denise Bell; a grandson, Jerod Alan Gibson; and brothers: Steve Bell and George Ellis Bell.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church where Rev. Chip Woodruff and Jerry Harper officiated. Interment followed at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
