Mrs. Evelyn Genell Crosby Wilson, age 78, of Douglas, GA passed away early Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Wilson, a native of Coffee County, was born January 31, 1939 to the late Joe Crosby and the late Mamie Mathews Crosby. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She had been employed as a seamstress at a sewing factory and she had also worked at Precious Possessions.
Mrs. Wilson had been an active member of Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church for 47 years.
Survivors include: hhusband of 57 Years, Melvin Wilson of Douglas, GA.; children: Jerome (Tammy) Wilson, Tina Newnan and Willie (Lynn) Wilson all of Douglas, GA.; sisters: Tessie Burch of Axson, GA., Jannie Giddens of Pearson, GA.; grandchildren: Courtney (Bradley) Adams of Nicholls, GA., Alyssa (Clayton) Taft, Zachery Wilson and Kenny Newnan all of Douglas, GA., Joey (Maya) Wilson of Atlanta, GA., Randy (Shannon) Wilson of Lakeland, GA.; great Grandchildren: Kaylee Adams and Keristen Adams both of Nicholls, GA., Grayson Taft of Douglas, GA.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2 p.m at Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Holt and Rev. Joe Vaughn officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Atkinson County with Rev. Charles Williams conducting the committal service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, October 4, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m.at Ricketson Funeral Home.
