The Chicken Livers & Gizzards festival will be held on Hwy 441 in Broxton on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The festival will begin at the stoplight and end at the tree of knowledge. This portion of the street will be filled with vendors offering food, craft projects, yard sale items and several children activities such as a bouncy house, train rides and water slides. Admission is FREE!

The main event of the festival is the parade that begins at 10 a.m. There will be many community organizations participating in the parade. Several different school marching bands, fire departments across the county and various motorcycle clubs will be participating in this year’s festival.

“We generally have a half of dozen different vendors that do livers and gizzards in different ways, says Gary Evans, Chairman of the Chicken Livers & Gizzards Festival. “You would be amazed at how many different ways that you could prepare and how many hundreds of pounds of lizard and gizzards we go through in just a few hours.”

According to Evans, six years ago citizens of Broxton and a former group named Friends of Broxton met with the Douglas Area Chambers of Commerce in hope of creating an unusual festival.  Evans gives the credit to Darquitta Riley, Mayor of Broxton, for creating the name Chicken Livers & Gizzards.

For more information about this year’s festival, please visit www.cityofbroxton.com or call Broxton’s City Hall at (912) 359-2060.
