Mr. Thomas Sanford “Sam” “Connie” Roberts II, age 89, of Broxton, GA passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Douglas, GA. Mr. Roberts was born on February 24, 1928, in Broxton, Georgia to the late Luther Roberts and Thelma Roddenberry Roberts. Mr. Roberts, was an active member of the Broxton Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, song leader, and a Sunday School teacher for 74 years. He retired from the United States Postal service after 38 years of employment. He was in good standing as a Mason for many years where he served as Grand Master.
Survivors include: his daughter, Kay and husband Gary Davis of Hilliard, FL; son, Sam and Leigh Roberts of Broxton, GA.; grandchildren: Grant and wife Mary Davis, Julee Brooke and husband Ron Lewis, Virginia Ellen and husband Jamie O’ Berry, Jared Luther and wife Katie Roberts; great-randchildren: Ali O’Berry, Jesse O’Berry, Emily O’Berry, Riley Davis, Raegan Davis, Rhianna Lewis, Gigi Lewis, Tripp Lewis, Arabelle Roberts, Thomas Sanford “Bo” Roberts, Mae Roberts and Zeke Roberts.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Virginia Smith Roberts; mother, Thelma Roddenberry Roberts; father, Luther Roberts; and brother, John Roberts.
Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Broxton Baptist Church where Rev. Derek Herlocker and Rev. Steve Atkinson officiated.
