Ms. Anna Louise Phares Johnston, age 82 of Douglas, passed away early Sunday morning, January 21, 2018, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla, GA following a short illness. Ms. Johnston was born March 13, 1935 to the late Andrew Jackson Phares and the late Sadie Louise McCartney Phares. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Howell Johnston; sister, Dottie Morgan; and brother, Bobby Phares.

Ms. Johnston, a native of Norfolk, VA, had lived in Douglas for many years. She had been employed by Gil Morgan Financial Advisor for Ameriprise Financial Services as an office secretary.

Survivors include: son, Gary Allen Johnson and his wife Linda of Nicholls, GA; brother-in-law: Dr. Diskin Morgan and his wife Lounell of Nicholls, GA; nieces: Lynn McKinnon and her husband Wayne of Douglas, GA, Ginger Watson and Husband Rogers; nephews: Gil Morgan and his wife Molly and Guy Morgan and his wife Gina both of Douglas, GA and Gaston Phares; step-grandsons: Jason Duren and Justin Duren and his wife Amber both of Douglas, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The graveside service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Douglas City Cemetery where Dr. Shep Johnson officiatied. The funeral service was held at Noon at First Baptist Church where Dr. Shep Johnson officiated.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
