Mrs. Emma Lou Harrell Crider Aughinbaugh, age 98 of Douglas, passed away on Saturday evening, February 17, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Aughinbaugh was born, August 26, 1919 to the late Samuel M. Harrell and the late Janie E. Smith Harrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her two husbands: W. A. Crider, Jr. and Howard Aughinbaugh, Jr.; two infant sons; one great grandchild, Zachery Jarrell; one sister, Myrtle Gillis; and one daughter-in-law, Ruth Aughinbaugh.
In her spare time, Mrs. Aughinbaugh loved to cook and crochet. She was also a member of Coffee Sippers Camping Club, WMU, a Red Cross Volunteer, YMA, and the Pilot’s Club.
She and her late husband, Mr. W. A. Crider, Sr. began a successful business known as Crider’s Poultry in Douglas. Mrs. Aughinbaugh was also the Administrator at Fair Haven Nursing Home. She was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son of W.A. Crider, Sr., W. A. Crider, Jr. and his wife Ann of Metter, GA; grandchildren: Ginger Crider Mock and her husband Jay of Fernandina Beach, FL, Bill Crider and his wife Ruthie of Statesboro, GA, Cindi Crider Jarrell and her husband Stewart of Metter, GA; great grandchildren: Jenkins and Emma Katherine Mock of Fernandina Beach, FL, Billy and Bo Crider of Statesboro, GA., Lane, Grace Ann, and Bishop Jarrell of Metter, GA; children of Howard R. Aughinbaugh Jr.: Howard R. Aughinbaugh, III of Danville, Indiana, David M. Aughinbaugh of Greer, SC, Mardee Lennard and her husband Roger of Albany, GA, Liz Flanagan and her husband Jackie of Douglas, GA; grandchildren: Emily Aughinbaugh of San Diego, CA, Eric Aughinbaugh and his wife Ashley of Mayo, SC, Amy Proctor and her husband Stephen of Hemingway, SC, Michael O’Steen and his wife Alison of Douglas, GA, Angela Trapnell and her husband Kerry of Greenwood, SC, Maggie Parrish and her husband Terry of Cumming, GA; great grandchildren: Louis and Karoline Trapnell of Greenwood, SC, Sarah Frances, Russell, and Elizabeth O’Steen of Douglas, GA, Charlie Jack Parrish of Cumming, GA; her caregivers: Debbie Morris, Connie Harrison, Glena Bailey and Tender Care; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service was Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018 at 11 A. M. at First Baptist Church where Rev. Shep Johnson officiated. The interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
