Jennifer Byrd, age 71, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Miss Byrd was born on November 12, 1946 in Douglas, Georgia the daughter of the late Hinton Byrd and Martha Bernice Durden Byrd.

She was a retired teacher with the Coffee County School System, an active member with Farm Bureau, a member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member of Merry Makers Club.

Survivors include: aunts: Joy Batten of Douglas, GA, Nora Johnson of Middleburg, FL and Lemmie Daughtery of Middleburg, FL; uncle, Clark Durden of Douglas, GA; several cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Atkinson and Rev. Mark Mercer officiating. Interment to follow at Reedy Branch Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tom Batten, David Atkinson, Bruce Batten, Rex Batten, Danny Ross and Jerome Nails. Honorary pallbearers will be her 1964 Broxton High School classmates.

Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
