Chevonne Denson of Douglas has been chosen by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce as a 40 Under 40 Finalist.
The Chamber of Commerce recognizes distinguished professionals in their prospective careers. They received 300 nominations and only selected 38 recipients. Chevonne was one of the category finalists in the category of Youth and Education. She represented the Dougherty County School System. All finalist was recognized on Aug. 16, 2018. Currently, Chevonne serves as a social studies department chair where some of her responsibilities include leading the department in collaborative meetings, using universal design to teach 9th-12th grade students, curriculum development, writing performance-based objectives, mentoring teachers, analyzing data, modeling effective classroom management, and communicating to parents about student performance.
Chevonne was also a Dougherty County District Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2017. Chevonne is currently pursuing her doctorate in leadership where she wishes to continue to impact the lives of students, teachers, and community members. Chevonne is the daughter of George and Brenda Sanders of Douglas.
