Lera Deen, age 85, passed away on Monday October 1, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Deen was born on March 11, 1933 in Axson, the daughter of the late Martin Mixon and Martha Ann Taft Mixon.

 

Mrs. Deen was a homemaker.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Martha Mixon; three husbands, Buster Hester, James Hamilton and Adrian Deen; four sons, Johnny Hester, Billy “Squeaky” Hester, Freeman Hester and Richard Hester; son-in-law, Elisha Anderson; brother, Buddy Mercer; and sister, Joann Hartley.

 

Survivors include four daughters, Becky Anderson of Nicholls, Patricia Arnold of Douglas, Debra Davis of Douglas, and Vicki Benefield of Douglas; three sons, Jimmy Hester (wife Patricia) of Douglas, Bobby Hester of Douglas, and Dewayne Deen of Nicholls; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held on Saturday October 6, 2018 at 2 pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment followed at Anderson Cemetery.

 

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
