Mr. Omer Carl Peterson, Sr., age 88 of Madison, Fla., formerly of Douglas, passed away early Saturday morning, October 6, 2018 at Lake Park of Madison Rehab following a short illness. Mr. Peterson was born November 27, 1929 to the late Carlie Peterson and the late Carrie Cannon Peterson. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Ruth Hand Peterson, and a brother, Earl Peterson.

Mr. Peterson had previously worked as a salesman at Western Auto for 30 years and he had also been a salesman and repairman for Singer Sewing Machine Company. He had worked for Tom Peanut and he was a self-employed landscaper . Mr. Peterson was a veteran of the U.S. Army from the Korean War.

He was a member of the Madison Church of God in Madison.

Survivors include wife Nina Ellis Bookout Peterson of Madison; son Omer Carl Peterson, Jr. and his wife Robin Stone Peterson of Deberry, Fla.; daughter Valerie Brown and her husband Joe of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers Gene Peterson of Lafayette and Bobby Peterson of Douglas; grandchildren Aleisha McKeeby of DeBerry, Fla. And Robert Luke Peterson of Zephyrhills, Fla.; great-grandchildren Brooke Addison McKeeby and Madison Shay McKeeby, both of
Deberry, Fla.; and several nieces, ephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018 at 11 am at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy, Rev. Raymond Hand and Rev. Mike Peterson officiating. The interment will follow in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Mr. Peterson will be placed in the church at 10 am Tuesday morning to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Ricketson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to American Parkinson Disease Association at APDAParkinson.org

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
