Hilda Mizell Markette, age 87, of Ambrose, passed away on Friday October 19, 2018 after an extended illness. Mrs. Markette was born on June 1, 1931 in Axson, the daughter of the late Grady Glenn Mizell and Gladys Williams Mizell.

 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Emory Markette, an infant child, Hillary Mizell Markette, brothers, Kay Lindsey Mizell and William Landrum Mizell and a sister, Lillie Frances Ricks.

 

She leaves behind a son, Hilton Emory Markette, wife Henrietta (Beasley) Markette of  Waycross; daughter, Heidi Markette McNatt , husband William Butler McNatt of Larkspur, Colorado; four grandchildren, Hilton Emory Markette II, wife Christy (Dixon) Markette of Waycross, Hayden Augustus Markette, wife Emily (Kimble) Markette of Atlanta, Alyssa Kaitlyn (McNatt) Gatrell, husband Cyrus Beau Gatrell of Provo, Utah, and Hayleigh Brielle McNatt of Larkspur, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Logan Alexis, Colton Emory and Jackson Allen Markette of Waycross; a new great grandchild due in February; five sisters, Loraine Stone of Macon, Dorthalene Knowles of Deland, Florida, Magdalene Gill of Hoboken, Mandlon Blount of Reidsville and Peggy Vickers of Wray; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday October 27, 2018 at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Justin Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Cummorah Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
