Mr. Billy Lamar Clanton, age 76 of Valdosta, passed away late Wednesday night, October 31, 2018, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following a short illness. Mr. Clanton was born December 1, 1941 to the late Marvin Clanton and the late Willene Whittle Clanton.
Mr. Clanton was a native of Lakeland, Lanier County. He retired after a number of years working as a machinist for Dowling Bag. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Survivors include: Wife Willene Porter Bradford Clanton of Valdosta; daughter Tracey Clanton of Valdosta; step-children Gerald Bradford of Douglas, Junior Bradford of Valdosta, Kaye Bradford of Douglas, Faye Bridges of Douglas and Ronnie Bradford of Naylor; brother Danny Clanton of Valdosta; and a number of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The graveside service and interment were held Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Satilla Memorial Gardens with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. Military rites, including the flag detail and “Taps,” were furnished by personnel from Marine Logistics Base of Albany.
Active pallbearers were: Eric Huffmaster, Scott Bradford, Todd Bradford, Shannon Bradford, Raymond Nipper, and Hunter Chaney.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
