John Frederick ‘Jack’ Meyers III

Mr. John Frederick “Jack” Meyers III, age 73 of Nicholls, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 1, 2018, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Meyers was born October 20, 1945 to the late John Frederick Meyers II and the late Norma Muffley Meyers.

Mr. Meyers was a native of Alliance, Ohio. He had previously been a professor at Maysville Community College in Maysville, Ken., and he was currently teaching at South Georgia State College in Douglas. He was a member of Teen Court. He was also an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Meyers was a member of Rotary International. He was an avid volunteer for numerous charitable organizations throughout Douglas and the surrounding areas of South Georgia. Mr. Meyers was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include: Wife Sandra Moreland Meyers of Nicholls; daughter Sherry Meyers Smith of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and grandson Grayson Bailey Smith of Wesley Chapel, Fla.

The memorial service was held Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating and Dr. Jim Cottingham giving a eulogy. The inurnment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Meyers’s memory to Boy Scouts of America www.scouting.org

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
