Mr. Jerry Warren Brooks, age 73, of Broxton, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, due to an extended illness. Mr. Brooks was born on September 27, 1945 in Douglas, to the late Jairus W. Brooks and Mary Ellen Dockery Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years and he was a retired quality control manager at Fleetwood Homes.

His survivors include: Three daughters, Fran Merritt and husband Dale of Douglas, Michele Newell and husband Cecil of Broxton, and Amy Johnston and husband Michael of Lilburn; one sister, Deborah Wooten and husband Marvin of Broxton; six grandchildren, Candis Polk, Jered Merritt, Amber Newell, Angela Newell, Larkin Johnston, and Lucy Johnston; seven great-grandchildren, Sara Polk, Abbiegale Polk, Brooklynn Polk, Delilah Merritt, Jaylinn Merritt, Matthew Palmer, and Jaci Palmer; and one nephew, Jamie Kight.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anna Brooks, and a nephew Kris Kight.  

The funeral service will be held on June 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Mims officiating and Johnny Wayne Jowers will give the eulogy. The interment will follow at the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
