Mr. William Henry “Bill” Burkhalter, age 73, of Fitzgerald, formerly of Douglas passed away Monday afternoon June 3, 2019 at Lifecare Center in Fitzgerald following an extended illness. Mr. Burkhalter was born November 18, 1945 to the late Brunner Burkhalter and the late Essie Davis Burkhalter. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Melba Henderson and Myrtle Johnson.
Mr. Burkhalter, a native of Blackshear, was self-employed in the landscaping business. He was a veteran of the National Guard. He was also of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Foskey Burkhalter of Douglas; daughters Jan Meeks and Carla Wilson, both of Douglas; step-daughter: B-nai Homes of Nicholls; step-son Brian Strickland of Douglas; sister Mary Griner of Blackshear; and a nephew Larry Riggins of Fitzgerald.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
