Mr. Jimmy Dale Wooten, age 71 of Nicholls, passed Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2019 at his residence following a short illness. Mr. Wooten was born April 23, 1948 to the late John E. Wooten and the late Mary Emma Highsmith Wooten. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Krystal Wooten Wynn; brothers Kenneth Wooten and Johnny Wooten; sister-in-law Virginia Wooten; and grandchild Gregory “Bubba” Harrell, Jr.

Mr. Wooten was a native of Ben Hill County but grew up in Pierce County. He was retired from CSX Railroad as a machinist where he had worked for 28 years. He was also a US Army veteran. He attended West Ward Street Church of God.

Survivors include: His Wife of 36 years Diane Hill Wooten of Nicholls; children Kathy Susan Faircloth of Jesup  and Greg Harrell and wife Tina of Heflin, Ala.; grandchildren Abbie Blake McBee and husband Luke of Jesup, Emma Faircloth of Statesboro, Jarrett Faircloth of Asheville, N.C., Paris Wynn of Jesup, Diona Williams and husband Chris of Jacksonville, Fla., and Andrew Harrell of Huntsville, Ala.; great grandchildren McKenna McBee of Jesup and Gregory Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 5:00 P.M. at West Ward Street Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy officiating. The interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery with military honors from Fort Stewart. 

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
