Ms. Joyce Jowers Carter, age 68 of Douglas, passed away early Monday morning, September 23, 2019, at Pruitt Healthcare in Fitzgerald following a short illness. Ms. Carter was born June 17, 1951 to the late J. D. Jowers and the late Annie Vickers Jowers.

Ms. Carter, a native of Coffee County, was a member of the graduating Class of 1969. She had worked in the medical billing services department at Coffee Regional Medical Center for many years. She attended Harrell Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Brothers Johnny Jowers of Waycross and Jimmy Jowers and wife Carrol of Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 3:00 P.M. at Harrell Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James Steed officiating. The interment will follow in the Harrell Grove Cemetery. Ms. Carter will be placed in the church at 2:00 P.M. to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening September 25, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
