Evelyn Montine Wood Knowles, age 85, of Douglas, passed away on Saturday November 16, 2019 at St. Joseph Candler Hospital, Savannah.

Mrs. Knowles was born on February 10, 1934 in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Charles Wood and the late Evelyn Johnson Wood. She was a retired seamstress with Lemar Manufacturing and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Knowles; grandchild, Sharee Holton; daughter, Debra Lynn McNeese; and a sister, Jackie Baker.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Horne of Alamo, Sherryl Holton (Andy) of Douglas, and Sylvia Kirkland of Douglas; son, Glenn Yawn (Maria) of Douglas; three sisters, Yvonne Johnson of Douglas, Mary Lowe (Larry) of Toledo, Ohio and Linda Bursack (Jack) of Winfield, Kansas; three brothers, Lynford Wood (Lois) of Smyrna, Rev. Darrell Wood (Dee) of Valdosta, and Rick Wood of Douglas; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening November 19, 2019 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 20, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Pastor Christopher Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Alan Horne Jr, Adam Horne, Ashley Horne, Richard Yawn, George Kirkland IV, Bobby Holton, John Tyler Holton and Jonathon Yawn. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
