Carrie Elizabeth Woods, age 89, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., passed away on Friday January 3, 2020 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola. Mrs. Woods was born on April 13, 1930 in Ocilla, the daughter of the late Chapman U. Green and the late Kate Lyles Green.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Woods loved flowers, spending time in her flower beds and watching birds. She loved quilting, embroidery, and puzzles and she played a mean game of Canasta.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Woods, Sr.; five brothers, Bob Green, Bill Green, Chapman Green, Bailey Green and Homer Green; and two sisters, Cletia Mae Green Davis and Judy Waldrop.

Survivors include two sons, Edison Woods, Jr. of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Edward Woods of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughter, June Jones (David) of Toomsboro; sister, Peggy Van Sickle Kober of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Bruce Jones (Dawn), Brian Jones (Amy) and Melissa Amerson (Rodney); eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 8, 2020 from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at Sims Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2020 at 2:00pm from Chatterton Church Cemetery in Nicholls with Rev. Brian Jones (grandson) officiating.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
