Mr. Harmon Roosevelt Cales, age 82 of Douglas, passed away early Sunday morning, July 5, 2020 at Hazlehurst Court Care and Rehabilitation in Hazlehurst following an extended illness. Mr. Cales was born March 30, 1938 to the late Roosevelt Cales and the late Cammie Peagler Cales. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Janice Cales; a sister, Hildra Floyd; and a brother Calvin Cales, Sr.
Mr. Cales was a native of Berkeley County, SC. He had been a machinist for 29 years. Mr. Cales owned and operated Cales Small Engine Repair from 2002-2017. He had to retire because of health issues. Mr. Cales was a member and deacon of Central Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: His wife of 58 years, Carolyn Born Cales of Douglas, GA; daughters Emily Harding of Bluffton, SC and Julie Anderson of Douglas, GA; grandsons Daniel Harding and wife Abby of Chattanooga, TN and Zachary Anderson of Douglas, GA; great granddaughter Rachael Anderson of Douglas, GA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
The graveside service and interment will be Friday, July 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Central Cemetery with Brother Joe Cason officiating and Julie Anderson will be presenting a eulogy.
The family will receive friends on Friday morning, July 10, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Central Cemetery.
