Clayton Levonne Spivey, age 72, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at The Fellowship Home in Nashville, GA after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.  Levonne was born October 29, 1948 in Coffee County, Georgia, the son of the late George Clayton Spivey and Gladys Corbitt Spivey. 

 

Levonne’s love was his family, motorcycles, and keeping his yards beautiful.  He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Levonne was retired from the mobile home industry. 

 

The 49-year marriage of Levonne and Patsy began on October 30, 1971 and was based on love, trust, and honesty.  She was his Patsy as he would say all the time.  Levonne was a loving husband, father, and papa to his two children and four grandchildren.  Levonne was the most honest person you would ever meet, and he loved to stay busy.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Tishie Marie Spivey; father-in-law, Thomas Steverson; brother-in-law, Donald Bennett.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Marie Spivey of Douglas, GA; son, Clayton Thomas Spivey (Tara) of Pearson, GA; daughter, Julie Spivey Crews (Mike) of St. Simons Island, GA; grandchildren, Ragan Davis, Taylor Spivey, Cayden Spivey, and Makayla Crews; brothers, Donnie Spivey (Ann) of Pearson, GA, Quillian Spivey of Millwood, GA, Larry Spivey of Pearson, GA, Howard Spivey (Pam) of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Shirley Thigpen (Dorsey) of Douglas, GA, Vernell Spivey (Greg) of Douglas, GA, Latrelle Anderson (Kenny) of Douglas, GA, and Linda Bennett of Millwood, GA; mother-in-law, Marie Mathis of Nashville, GA; sisters-in-law, Kathy Munoz (Danny) of Nashville, GA, Susan  Steverson of Nashville, GA;  brothers-in-law, Tony Steverson (Charlotte) of Nashville, GA, Jerry Steverson (Beth) of Nashville, GA, Alan Steverson of Alapaha, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

 

Levonne will be greatly missed by all.

 

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Jowers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Adam Young officiating along with military honors provided by Ft. Stewart Honor Guard.   Musical selection will be “The Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” on CD.  Pallbearers will be Roy Spivey, Greg Barnes, Jeffrey Barnes, Jason Bennett, Jonathan Watson, and Luke Kinnebrew.   Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Taft, Larry Hillard, and Grady Cothren. 

 

In lieu of food, and flowers, donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
