Sherry Tanner Evans, age 61, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Sherry was born on December 13, 1959 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late Hiram and Laverne Davis Tanner Jr.

 

She worked as a registered nurse at Dorminey Medical Center, Fitzgerald, Georgia and was member of Stokesville Baptist Church, Axson, Georgia.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Eve Brawner (Will) of Douglas, GA; two grandchildren, Olivia and Vivian Brawner; sister, Rose Tanner Meeks (Tim) of Douglas, GA; brothers, Donnie Tanner (Marilyn) of Douglas, GA, and Barry Tanner (Jeri) of Douglas, GA; fiancé’, George Gillis of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Stokesville Baptist Church with Pastors Gregory and Jackie Pope officiating. Rev. Edward Mathews will officiate the graveside and Kay Pierce will give a eulogy.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Bryan Tanner, Josh Meeks, Joseph Meeks, B.H. Tanner, Alex Deen, Tracey Deen, and Logan Evans.  Musical selections will be “Precious Lord Take My Hand” sung by Brandon Musgrove and “Amazing Grace” sung by John Glosson.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Linda Gillis 965 River Rd., Pearson, GA 31542.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
