Mrs. Ida Ann Byrd, age 66, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at her son’s residence on Saturday, March 20, 2021 following an extended illness.

 

Mrs.  Byrd was born on March 29, 1954, in Douglas, GA to the late Clarence Hursey and the late Stella Mae Gieger Hursey.

 

Survivors include: Husband, Charles H. Byrd of Douglas, GA; son, Kyle (Shay) Byrd of Douglas, GA; daughter, Leighan (Keith) Waters of Douglas, GA; grandchildren Carter Luke Byrd, Charles Byrd, and, Alaina Waters; and one brother; Kenny Hursey of Yorktown, VA; and a host of other relatives and cherished friends.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00 am, Tanner Baptist Church, inside the social hall with Rev. James  “Buddy” Jordan, and  Rev. James “Jimbo” Steed officiating. Interment will follow at Tanner Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility. Masks are not provided.
