Dorothy Virginia Roberts, age 89, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Acosta Rua Center for Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Roberts was born on May 13, 1932 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late Roy & Mae Merritt Simmons.

 

Mrs. Roberts retired as a chemical technician with Rayonier and was a member of True Light Ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Elias Roberts.

 

Survivors include her son, Dr. Ricky Elias Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Frankie Woods of Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Joseph Spivey, Barbara Lott, Vicky Chancey, Emmitt Hampton, Kim Nolen, Karen Vaughn, Keith Simmons, Shannon Wood, Ronnie Wood, Gail Pridgen, Laverne Streat, Terry Lavigne, Tina Roberts, Barbara Roberts, Linda McLoon, John Roberts, Billy Roberts, Joyce Corwin, Bonnie Roberts, Wendy Roberts and, Jan Roberts.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rocky Pond Church Cemetery with Jerry D. Taylor, Judy Lee, Riley Reade, Sue Yartin and, Debra Lancaster officiating.

 

Attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including masks and social distancing.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
