William “Woody” Strother Woods, 56

Mr. William “Woody” Strother Woods, 56, of Martin, GA passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.


Mr. Woods was born in Atlanta, GA on March 4, 1965, son of John Williams Woods of Cleveland, GA and the late Elizabeth Oliver Hammond. He was a restaurant manager having worked for Sonic Drive-In and was a United States Marine veteran. Mr. Woods was an active member of the Royston First United Methodist Church where he served in the Men’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry and was the sound operator. He was also a member of the Georgia Athletics Coaches Association.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Barnes Woods; sons, Blake Woods of Gray, GA, Robert Daniel Woods and Cole Harper Woods both of the home; daughters, Ashley Ziska of Omaha, NE, Bailey Shain of Gray, GA, Caitlyn Woods of Twiggs County, GA, Elizabeth Grace Woods and Lelia Adele Woods both of the home; parents, John and Polly Woods of Cleveland, GA, and Dod Hammond of Hawkinsville, GA; brothers, Frank Woods of Denver, CO and John Holland of Tallahassee, FL; sisters, Elizabeth Randolph of Lula, GA and Judi Stuart of Burlington, NC; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Woods will be held in the Royston First United Methodist Church Gym at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, with Rev. Matt Parker and Rev. Chris Watson officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Royston First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the Paul Anderson Youth Home at P.O. Box 525 Vidalia, GA 30475 or www.payh.org.

Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
