Ms. Junell Worth, age 86, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at her residence following a brief illness. Ms. Worth was born on May 12, 1935, in Coffee County, GA, to the late Tharpe Worth and Ava Lott Worth.
She was been a teacher in Coffee County for 50 years having taught at the Hebron School, Satilla School, and Citizens Christian Academy. She loved teaching and would often incorporate her love for art into her classrooms. She had a love for her students that carried on through her entire life. She considered each child she taught one of her own and would often run into former students and share memories and laughter with them.
Ms. Worth was a high school and community basketball player. She later began coaching women’s community league, middle school, and high school women’s basketball. Her coaching career spanned several decades.
Survivors include: Three Nieces; Diana Kiel (Aubrey) of Douglas, GA, Cindy Burke (Billy Joe) of Broxton, GA, Jenny Jacobs (Curtis) of Alma, GA, One Nephew; Mike Worth of
Douglas, GA, One Sister; Patricia Worth Fink of Los Lunas, NM, Her Special Pet; “Cooper”, and several Great Nieces and Nephews. Ms. Worth was preceded in death by: One Brother; Clyde Worth, One Sister; Eloise Skipper, and Her Parents; Tharpe Worth and Ava Lott Worth.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11:00AM, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Kirkland and Rev. Doralyn Paulk officiating. The interment will follow at the Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Chris Burke, Josh Burke, Luke Jacobs, Randall Edwards, Loren Shrouder, and Michael Veal. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Linda and Eddie Rish, Daniel Hannah, Daniel Paulk, Marlene and Joe Vaughn, Jan Shrouder, Janice Griffin, Diane Smith, Becky Solomon, Regina Veal, Cindy Johnson, and Joan Williams.
