Jess Franklin Tanner, age 87, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Tanner was born on March 4, 1935, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late Ben Franklin Tanner and Lucille Gertrude Shaw Tanner.

 

 

Survivors include: Son, Wade F. (Susan) Tanner of Axson, GA, Daughter, Laurie (Carlos) Ely of Douglas, GA, Step-daughter, Rebecca (Becky)  Temple, Four Grandchildren, Madelyn Tanner, Jessa  Tanner, Laura Curtis (Isaiah), Lesley Shook (Drew) and several Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by: His Wife, June Elinor Gillis Tanner; Four Sisters, Sibyl Plemmons, Laura Jean Kirkland, Clora Helen Monk, Johnnie Waters; Two Brothers, Hubert  Tanner, Timothy Jackson Tanner; and Parents; Ben Franklin Tanner and Lucille Gertrude Shaw Tanner.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on, Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00AM, at Stokesville Baptist Church, with  Rev. Leroy Spivey and Don Gillis officiating.

 

 

Interment will follow at Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Patrick Spivey, Hunter Sutton, Luke Ray, Jacob Ray, Tom Tanner, Benjamin Tanner, and Noah Prather. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Members of the Stokesville Baptist Church Sunday School Class and members of the Satilla High School Class.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.

 

 

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
