Hawks roll to 85-49 win over East Georgia State

The South Georgia State College Hawks took advantage of a balanced scoring attack Wednesday night to roll to an 85-49 win over the East Georgia State Bobcats.

          

 

 

Five players finished in double figures for the Hawks (17-4, 6-1 GCAA). Carlos Hart and Zae Wiggins led the scoring with 14 points each. Hart had six rebounds and five assists, while Wiggins had four steals. Keith Lamar and Yannis Woods both finished with 12 points. Lamar grabbed seven rebounds and had five assists, while Woods had eight rebounds. Justin Edmondson rounded out the top scoring with 10 points.

          

 

 

SGSC shot 45.5 percent from the field in the first half and made 83.3 percent of its free throws. The Hawks built a 27-point lead (37-10) in the first 20 minutes and went into the locker room leading 43-20.

          

 

 

The Hawks continued their strong shooting in the second half, making 51.6 percent of their shots from the field and 75 percent of their free throws. SGSC’s defense held East Georgia State to 40.4 percent shooting for the game, and the Bobcats made only 55.6 percent of their free throws.

          

 

 

SGSC hosted the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce Wednesday night during Chamber Night. Chamber members were recognized at halftime for the valuable role each member plays in the growth and success of Waycross and Ware County.

          

 

 

SGSC returns home Saturday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. to play Gordon State.

          

 

 

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
