Mr. Harry Byrd Griffin, age 92 of Douglas, passed away early Saturday morning, February 11, 2023 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Mr. Griffin was born August 17, 1930 to the late Henry Thomas Griffin, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Strickland Griffin. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Henry Thomas Griffin, Jr., Dick Griffin and “Red” Griffin and 1 sister: Lawanna Courson. 

 

 

Mr. Griffin, a native of Douglas, GA, had been the former owner and operator of Griffin Alignment of Douglas. He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Griffin was also a Veteran of United States Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict and during the Vietnam War. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

His wife of 60 years: Betty Ruth Braden Griffin of Douglas, GA 

 

 

3 Children: Harry Griffin and wife Katherine of Selma, TX 

John Griffin of Universal City, TX 

Robin Burkett of Orlando, FL 

 

 

2 Grandchildren: Dr. Patrick Griffin and wife Allison of Benbrook, TX 

Kary Starin and husband Jason of Universal City, TX 

 

 

4 Great Grandchildren: Elin Starin and Bruin Starin both of Universal City,TX 

Liam Griffin and Charlie Griffin both of Benbrook, TX 

 

 

1 Brother: Emory Griffin of Douglas, GA 

 

 

1 Sister: Betty Jo Benway of Spokane, WA 

 

 

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Littlejohn officiating.

 

 

The interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. 

 

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. 

 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to College Avenue Baptist Church 714 South College Ave. Douglas, GA 31533 or a Charity of your choice.. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
