The National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Division I Men’s Basketball Committee has announced that South Georgia State College’s Carlos Hart is a third team NJCAA All-American.

“Carlos improved from year one to year two on the court and in the classroom,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “This is just another honor for him and for our team. The next award for him is graduation!”

A 6’6″ sophomore from Miami, Fla., Hart averaged 20.3 points, eight rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game for the Hawks this past season. His points per game average and total points scored (691) led the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). In addition, Hart finished in the top five in the GCAA in the following categories – free throw percentage (80.5), offensive rebounds (99), defensive rebounds (173), total rebounds (272), rebounds per game, assists (130), and steals (82).

Hart was named GCAA Player of the Year, a first team All-Region selection, the GCAA Tournament MVP, and a five-time recipient of the GCAA’s Player of the Week honor. He was also named to the 9th annual Applebee’s Okefenokee Classic tournament team and the 6th annual B-Mac’s Christmas Classic tournament team.

The Hawks captured their third GCAA Conference Tournament Championship in March and earned an automatic berth into the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
