Verma Purvis Metts, age 94, of West Green, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Vista Park Health and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Verma was born on February 27, 1929 in Ambrose, Georgia. Verma was the daughter of Elisha Purvis Sr. and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Nugent Purvis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Metts, Jr., Two sisters, Oveida Day and Mavis Daniel, Three brothers, Hubert Purvis, Elisha Purvis Jr. and Kenneth Purvis, and one grandson, Michael Cothran, Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Cothran (Mike) and Tammy Metts (Chip Wood, fiancé) both of Hazlehurst, Georgia, three grandchildren, Jody Swain (Steven) of Hazlehurst, James Conner (Hannah) of Pembroke GA, and Aaron Conner (Erin) of N. Augusta, S.C.; Nine great-grandchildren, Gracie Vann, Gavin Vann, Harper Conner, Elliot Conner, Rory Conner, Remi Conner, Sawyer Conner, Walker Conner and Elsa Rose Conner; one sister Faye Purvis Alford of Macon, GA.; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Verma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst, GA.
Services will be held at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Georgia on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 2:00PM. Rev. Ronald Cobb will be officiating and eulogy given by Mrs. Gale Cothran. Interment will follow at Purvis Cemetery. The family will accept friends at Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Georgia on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 1:00PM until 2:00PM.
