Deacon Harry Ashland Anderson, affectionately known as “Chiller,” was born on September 10, 1945, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Edith Butler. After graduating from high school, he went to Diesel Mechanic School. He worked as a truck driver for several years until he became a chef at Marriott Corporation. While at Marriott Corporation, he met and married his wife of thirty-two years, Rosie Anderson.

After they moved to Douglas, Georgia, in 1992, Harry started working at Golden Poultry. Deacon Harry Anderson was a faithful and dedicated member of Overcomers Tabernacle of Faith and Praise, where he taught Sunday School and served as an usher. Later in his life, he started attending New Beginning Church of God.

Deacon Harry Ashland Anderson returned to his heavenly home on July 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Butler.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife: Rosie Anderson, four children: Harry Ashland Anderson Jr., Michelle Anderson, Tamara (Clinton) Brockington, and Tiehera Brown; his devoted brother: Ronald Anderson; grandchildren: Jasmine, Nesha, Darren, Kemari, Taesha, Diaz, Latisha, and Jamiya; one great-grandchild: Jayce; special cousins: Carolyn Edmunds, and Jeanette Penn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at New Beginning Church of God in Broxton, with Pastor Jacqueline Dunnom, Pastor Barbara Robinson, and Apostle Leroy Street presiding. Interment will follow at the Douglas City Cemetery.

Harrell’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
