Former Douglas city manager Terrell Jacobs has been named to the same position in Albany. According to WALB, the Albany City Commission voted 5-2 to hire Jacobs during Wednesday’s commission meeting. Jacobs has been serving as a consultant with the Georgia Municipal Association, which is the position he accepted when he left Douglas in 2018.

Jacobs became the Douglas city manager in June of 2007. His last day with the City of Douglas was June 15, 2018.

Albany had considered Jacobs for its city manager position in 2015. In April of that year, the City of Albany announced five finalists for its vacant city manager position. Jacobs was one of the five. On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, the Albany City Commission named Sharon Subadan, former deputy county administrator in Hillsborough County, Florida, as the new city manager.

Jacobs stayed in Douglas for three more years before leaving for the GMA. According to WALB, Jacobs was not in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting. Two commissioners, Jon Howard and Demetrius Young, voted to keep interim city manager Derrick Brown, the WALB report notes.
